Diane Brockmeier Appointed New President and CEO of Mid-America Transplant Services

Diane Brockmeier, who currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Mid-America Transplant Services (MTS), will succeed Dean F. Kappel, current MTS president and CEO, on February 1, 2016. The MTS Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of Directors made the unanimous choice of appointing Brockmeier after conducting a nationwide search and interviewing more than 130 candidates.

Robert Bezanson, MTS Board Chairman, said in a statement:

“Diane has been part of the MTS family for more than 28 years. She began her career with MTS as a nurse and organ procurement coordinator, then quickly moved into the organ procurement director role. Diane spent almost seven years as the vice president of clinical services before being promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“In addition to Diane’s deep experience with our organization, what really impressed the Board were her proven leadership skills, quality improvement efforts, and her innovative approach to organ and tissue donation. Diane was responsible for the successful design and construction of the first-in-the-nation onsite surgical suite for organ and tissue recovery.

“Not only does Diane bring a high level of expertise to the role that we know will help the organization continue to succeed in its mission, but she also has an unwavering compassion for the families and communities MTS serves. She will bring that kindness with her as she steps into the role of president and CEO.

“We are confident that under Diane’s direction, MTS will continue to focus on supporting a culture of innovation and employee engagement, and it will be an esteemed and national leader of organ procurement organizations.”
