The UNOS Region 5 Educational Collaborative was a daylong forum (Aug. 23, 2023) organized by members of the region. Teams shared their unique expertise, research and experiences with each other in a coordinated, collective and innovative environment.
Agenda highlights:
- Normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) – Ethics, best practices for consenting and lung utilization
- Composite Allocation Score (CAS) – Geographical challenges with our new allocation practice
- Keeping up with the times – Final Rule, eGFR mandates and Organ Offer Acceptance Rate Ratio
- Living donors – Increasing utilization and sharing experience
- Maximizing the gift – DCD, NRP and disparity in access related to organ biomechanics
