The patient waitlist notification quick reference guide is available on OPTN Web site. The OPTN/UNOS Patient Affairs Committee developed the guide to help transplant hospitals comply with patient notification requirements that went into effect in March 2011. This overview outlines responsibilities for transplant hospitals to communicate changes in their patients’ waitlist status, as defined in the OPTN Bylaws.
Transplant hospital staff: use this guidance as you develop and implement your internal waitlist notification practices. The UNOS patient information letter is also available on the OPTN Web site. It should be used in conjunction with the OPTN Evaluation Plan. The guide will be updated periodically, to incorporate changes in waitlist notification requirements.
