The OPTN recently posted its “Annual Set of Committee Goals” to shed light on projects OPTN committees are pursuing to achieve one or more patient-focused objectives:
1. Increase the number of transplants.
2. Increase access to transplants.
3. Improve post-transplant survival.
4. Promote transplant patient safety.
5. Promote living donor safety.
Committees proposed the projects and they were approved by the OPTN/UNOS Board of Directors at its June 2011 meeting in Richmond, Va.
