Policy that requires SARS-CoV-2 lower respiratory testing of lung donors went into effect May 27.
Policy is intended to address patient safety.
At its April 26 virtual meeting, the OPTN Executive Committee will consider an emergency policy to require lower respiratory COVID-19 testing for all potential lung donors.
Transplant hospitals are responsible for completing these forms by July 1, 2021.
Tests authorized by the FDA to analyze lower respiratory tract specimens.
