Lower than anticipated kidney registrations have resulted in the first OPTN/UNOS registration fee increase since 2013. Beginning October 1, total registration fees will increase 2.3%, from $957 to $979.
Beginning Aug. 15, sixteen proposals will be offered for public comment, through Oct. 15, 2016.
Application deadline has been extended to August 31, 2016.

In the past, only UNOS Organ Center staff had the ability to offer facilitated pancreata to qualified transplant centers. Recently approved changes to the Facilitated Pancreas Allocation policy (11.6), however, now allow OPO staff to make these offers themselves.
The HOPE Act permits use of organs from HIV positive donors for transplantation into HIV-positive candidates under approved research protocols designed to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness and safety of such organ transplants.
