Effective Sept. 28, 2022, the median MELD at transplant (MMaT) values for liver transplant candidates with exception scores will be updated. As of June 2022, the MMaT is based on data about liver transplants performed within a 150 nautical mile radius around the donor hospital where the organ is recovered.
The updated data report, which displays the MMaT score for each donor hospital, is available on the Liver and Intestine resource page on the OPTN website. The scores are updated twice a year.
The median PELD at transplant (MPaT) calculation is a national calculation, drawing upon transplants performed nationwide. The updated MPaT will again be 35, as it has been over several previous periods of calculation.
