Nominations open for the Lisa Schaffner Community Advocate Award

Do you know an unsung hero – an individual or a couple – who has gone “above and beyond” in promoting organ donation and transplantation? UNOS is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Lisa Schaffner Community Advocate Award. Established by UNOS in 2010 and previously known as the National Donor Memorial Award, the award recognizes volunteers, such as living donors, donor family members or transplant recipients, who are promoting organ donation and transplantation with little public recognition.

About this award

The late Lisa Schaffner, Director of PR and Marketing at UNOS, helped to establish the National Donor Memorial Award for Excellence in 2010. Following her sudden passing in 2021, the award was renamed to honor her as its very first champion.
