Solid organ transplants of any organ type may now be performed under the terms of the HIV Organ Policy Equity Act.

Pre-implementation system notice: VCA distribution to be based on fixed distance circle of 500 nautical miles

Effective June 18, vascular composite allograft offers will first be made to compatible transplant candidates listed at VCA programs within a radius of 500 nautical miles of the donor.

Effective May 6, 2020, a transplant program reactivating a liver transplant candidate to a MELD or PELD status in Waitlist is no longer required to input updated lab values to support the listing.

New enhancements added to DonorNet and Waitlist resulting from NATCO collaboration

The improvements are a direct outcome of a collaborative event during NATCO’s annual conference in August 2023. At this event, transplant professionals joined UNOS’ staff to brainstorm and design enhancements for UNet, focusing on enhancing its capabilities for the community’s benefit.

Pre-implementation notice: Required reporting of patient safety events coming

Effective Jan., 10, 2024, OPTN Policy 18.5, will be updated to require members to report certain patient safety events within 72 hours of becoming aware of the event.
