Faith Borunda has been named regional director, El Paso for the Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA), a Dallas-based organ procurement organization.
Prior to her appointment, Borunda was the manager of clinical services in STA’s El Paso office. She served in that role for almost two and a half years where she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the El Paso office including the clinical, tissue recovery, family and hospital services staff.
Before joining STA in September of 2014, Borunda was a critical care registered nurse at University Medical Center of El Paso. She served as an intensive care nurse in the neonatal, pediatric and adult units.
Borunda earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the American Board for Transplant Certification, where she became a certified procurement transplant coordinator.
For more than 40 years, STA has been saving lives by recovering donated organs for individuals awaiting a life-saving transplant. STA is among the largest of 58 federally designated, non-profit organ procurement organizations (OPO). Founded in 1974, STA has facilitated more than 24,000 organs for recovery and enhanced the lives of more than 100,000 people. STA is a member of the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) and is accredited by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO). The organization serves communities in North Texas, Beaumont, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Galveston, Midland/Odessa, Temple, Wichita Falls and Tyler.
