Adding five infectious disease tests to DonorNet®

Adding five infectious disease tests to DonorNet®

Implementation date: Dec. 6, 2017
Audience
All UNetSM users including all OPO and transplant hospital staff particularly OPO staff who use DonorNet® and transplant center users who evaluate organ offers.

At-a-glance
At NATCO’s (The Organization for Transplant Professionals) annual meeting this August, UNOS staff solicited feedback from transplant professionals about ways we could enhance the current DonorNet system to make their job easier. Learn more about other enhancements that resulted from this collaboration. As a result of that partnership, we learned that limited reporting options available for infectious disease testing created some challenges for staff.

To ensure that the infectious disease testing options in DonorNet match those currently found on the Deceased Donor Registration (DDR) form in TIEDI, we will add five infectious disease tests to the existing options in DonorNet in December.

Change details
When logged into DonorNet, you will see the following additional optional fields under the Infectious Diseases tab:

  • HTLV NAT
  • Chagas
  • Chagas NAT
  • West Nile
  • West Nile NAT

When you report test results, you must also report the hemodilution status of the specimen used to conduct the test. These results will not be required to run a match or send an electronic offer notification.
