Transplant coordinators: If you are working up a patient for a kidney transplant and that patient was a living donor of any organ type, a new form is available to help speed up the process to request prior living donor priority. Complete the prior living donor priority request form and fax it to the UNOS Organ Center at 804-697-4372. Contact the Organ Center with questions at 800-292-9537.
Most prior living donors receive transplants quickly, so don’t delay taking this important step.
A paper investigating this topic was authored by UNOS researchers and published in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. Additionally, UNOS researcher Dr. Jennifer Wainwright presented on this subject at the 2016 American Transplant Congress in Boston.
