At a glance
On September 22, 2016, UNOS updated the Secure EnterpriseSM system so that you can use Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) or Google Chrome web browsers for Windows-based computers to access UNet and other transplant applications (e.g. WaitlistSM, DonorNet®, KPDSM, TIEDI® and TransNetSM). Make sure you have one of these browsers available before you access UNet.

As of September 22, 2016, UNOS will no longer support IE8, IE9 and IE10 web browsers.
IE8 and earlier versions of IE (IE6 and IE7) are now blocked, preventing users from accessing UNet with these outdated browsers. We plan to block IE9 and IE10 at a later date. You will be notified at least 90 days in advance of blocking IE 9 and IE10.
Please be aware that usability within the Waitlist, Security Administration, Regional Review Board and Committee Management applications will be impacted for IE9 and IE10. We strongly advise having IE11 or Google Chrome available to maintain a better user experience.
There will be no change in support for Mac with the Sept. 22 implementation. This implementation did not include making UNet applications compatible in Chrome for Mac. Currently, the UNet system supports an optimized experience for Safari for Mac in DonorNet® only. UNOS plans to implement support for Chrome for Mac, but it will not be possible to do so in 2016. More details on Chrome for Mac will be provided to you in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Why we did this
Microsoft® announced earlier this year it will only provide technical support and security updates to the most current version of Internet Explorer, IE11.
Microsoft will no longer release security updates for outdated browsers, which means that online hackers may be able to take advantage of security vulnerabilities and use them to break into your system or steal information you transmit over the Internet. Additionally, Google Chrome will no longer be updated on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
What you need to do
If you haven’t already done so, upgrade to modern operating systems (e.g. Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10) and IE11 as soon as possible. You may also install Chrome. Work with your organization’s Information Technology (IT) department to add these updated browser options.
Please review the details below and forward this notice to the appropriate IT staff at your organization to ensure you will maintain access to UNet following the implementation.
Change Details
Your specific upgrade options depend on your Windows computer Operating System (OS) and whether or not your organization is using any applications that depend on IE8. The table below illustrates options for your consideration:
