UNet℠ University FAQ

We designed UNetSM University for new transplant professionals but even if you are already familiar with UNetSM, you can benefit.

You’ll find practical exercises, policy explanations and an overview of resources, such as the help documentation in UNet. The curriculum also includes a community discussion board that gives you the opportunity to exchange ideas with and learn from other UNet University students.

You’ll learn to:

  • Navigate UNet applications
  • Effectively use the systems and submit more accurate data
  • Identify the relationship between policy and the UNet system
  • Explain the connected nature of UNet applications
How do I access UNOS Connect?

Transplant professionals with access to UNet, can access UNOS Connect easily by clicking the Resources tab on the UNet home page. This handy visual will show you how the UNOS Connect menu has changed and where you can find the UNet University modules.

How do I use the Learning Contract?

The curriculum offers an optional Learning Contract that is on page 16 of the UNet University Curriculum Guide. The Curriculum Guide is found on the UNet University page in UNOS Connect under Curriculum Resources. The Learning Contract helps learners take responsibility for their own learning. It is a support tool for managers to help their employees apply new knowledge after they complete the training. This contract documents the employee’s commitment along with the manager’s agreement to assist their employees with opportunities to apply learning on the job.

Which browser should I use? How do I solve issues with my browser?

All courses in UNOS Connect work best using Chrome. The most common cause of a course failure to launch is your browser’s pop-up blocker. Be sure to deactivate your pop-up blocker to launch the course appropriately.

Note: You can also perform a System Test to ensure your computer is meeting the requirements of UNOS Connect. Click here to start the system test. If you continue to experience technical issues, please contact us.

How do I get back to the course after I’ve clicked on a link?

When you click on a link in the course, a new window will open. After you are done viewing the new page, go to your browser at the bottom of your screen (i.e. Chrome) and find the open course.

Note: If you see a tab with the course title (i.e. SYS146-DonorNet TXC) and the page says the following

We launched your course in a new window but if you do not see it, a popup blocker may be preventing it from opening. Please disable popup blockers for this site.

that means you have the course open. Search for your browser at the bottom of the page to get back to the course.

What is Online Help in UNet?

Online Help is the central place where you can learn more about UNet, how it works, and how you can use it to support your process. It is accessible on demand and you can search or browse for topics that interest you and quickly find answers to your questions. Screen level online help is also available on many of the screens in UNet.

How can a learner practice newly acquired skills?

It is not recommended to train in the active UNet applications. Consider using a practice environment such as UNet DemoPortal. You can request DemoPortal through UNOS Customer Service (800) 978-4334 or e-mail unethelpdesk@unos.org.

How can I see the features in the course better?

You can use the Maximize button (upper right of the screen) to expand the course to full screen. The same button allows you to restore down to the previous size.

Additionally, some images have a magnifying glass on them. Select those images to view at a larger size and then click again to restore to previous size.

PDFs have a zoom feature. There is also an option to Get PDF to zoom, open, download or print.

Can I skip the “Your Turn” knowledge checks?

The courses are self-paced and designed to allow you to view sections in any order you choose, but it is recommended to go in order and participate in the sections titled “Your Turn” to check your understanding. These questions are not graded and provide feedback if you choose the wrong option. There is no need to go back and re-take this section unless you want to try again.

At the end of each course, there is a choice to Save My Spot or Add to My Transcript. There is also an Exit option at the top of the course. What is the difference?

Save my spot holds the course on your My Registrations page and is helpful if you want to access the course quickly. To re-launch, go to My Registrations page and click the arrow button to the right. The course remembers where you left off so you can either resume or start over from the beginning.

Add to my transcript indicates that you have completed the course and you want to take the exit survey and house the course on your My Transcripts page. You can also relaunch from here. Click on the gear icon to the right of the record. The option to Launch will appear.

The Exit option at the top of the course is available to use on any page. The course will stay on your My Registrations page and can be re-launched at any time.

Note: To fully complete the course, you must use the Add to My Transcript option on the last page and finish the exit survey.

How does the UNet Community Discussion Board work?

This discussion board allows you to exchange ideas and lessons learned with your peers. Once you register for a UNet University course, you will automatically be enrolled in the discussion board. You will be notified by e-mail when the board is ready for you to access. You can access the discussion board by going to the link provided in the registration email. Alternatively, in UNOS Connect, use the navigation menu on the top right of the home screen and click on Discussion Board. Click on the link UNet University Discussion Board and then click on the UNet Application you’d like to engage. You can reply or start a new topic.

How do I get my CEPTC certificate?

Certifications are accessed from your My Transcript page. Click on the gear icon to the right of the record. The option will appear to print your certificate.
