Maria died in a single car accident when we were taking her to the University of Virginia in August of 2001. Maria was and Athlete, scholar, and musically talented with her french horn. Maria was a donor, through her gifts she was able to help 69 people with her tissue gifts. Her cornea gifts restored the sight of two individuals and her heart valves, skin, bone and other tissue helped restore health for many others. Maria didn’t die to donate but because she was a donor, she left a legacy that has helped others.
