At-a-glance
New data collection elements have been added to DonorNet® to capture information regarding donor COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) testing. OPOs can record whether testing was performed on the donor, and will have the ability to report more than one test result. Entering this information is not mandatory.
What you need to know
This new data collection is located under the “Infectious Diseases” tab for OPOs and under “Other Infectious Diseases” tab for transplant programs on a donor record within DonorNet. Instructions were sent in an email to all UNet users on April 14 and are published in a system notice on Secure Enterprise. Additional information on interpreting test results provided by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Ad Hoc Disease Transmission Advisory Committee were included in a second email to all UNet users on April 21 and added to the system notice on Secure Enterprise.
Education and resources
Details regarding the COVID-19 donor testing data collection, including examples of which type of tests will fall into which specimen type category, as well as details around entering and editing the testing, and requirements to send electronic organ offer notifications, can be found in the online help documentation within DonorNet. This notice is in regard to implementation of one of several actions the OPTN has taken to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
