Effective Feb. 9, updated guidance is in place regarding the National Liver Review Board (NLRB) consideration of candidates with polycystic liver disease (PLD). The OPTN Board of Directors approved the new guidance as part of several enhancements to the NLRB.
The updated guidance clarifies the MELD score recommendations for candidates to qualify for an exception, addresses candidates also requiring a kidney, and adds new comorbidities that should be considered for a MELD exception in conjunction with PLD.
