Transplant hospitals are able to take immediate action to benefit a select population of Black candidates impacted by race-inclusive eGFR calculations.
Updates to living donor exclusion criteria now in effect
Four exclusion criteria in OPTN Policy 14.4.E have been updated to align with current research and guidelines as well as ensure consistency throughout OPTN policy language.
Education now available: Updates to living donor exclusion criteria
Professional education on this policy change is now available in UNOS Connect. These policy changes take effect July 26.

Report analyzes trends in the number and resolution of liver exception requests.
Messaging enhancement for Expedited Liver Placement now available
New notifications will be sent to the original primary on-call contact when a liver match has been expedited
Organ offer messaging enhancement for Expedited Liver Placement now available
Voice and text now will state if a liver offer is “expedited.”

Two-year monitoring report available for the elimination of the use of DSAs in heart allocation
A new data report contains key measures of adult heart allocation based on policy changes implemented in January 2020.
UNOS using a collaborative improvement model to increase DCD lung transplantation
29 lung transplant programs are participating in the project.
Exception pathway for heart device recalls approved by OPTN Board of Directors

On Sept. 14, multiple updates will be made to UNet to implement approved OPTN Policy changes that affect OPTN data collection.

Implementation notice: Continuous distribution of lungs
Effective today (March 9), lungs are now allocated under the approved continuous distribution allocation policy.
Policy changes
Pre-implementation notice: Minimum kidney donor criteria established for biopsies
Effective Sept. 6, OPOs will be required to perform renal procurement biopsies for deceased kidney donors meeting certain criteria.
New and changed data collection on TIEDI coming Aug. 30
Several policy changes impacting TIEDI forms were approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in March 2022.
Updates to data submission policy coming Aug. 30
Effective Aug. 30, new requirements under revisions to OPTN Policy 18: Data Submission Requirements include a data lock provision to make changes to any of the eight TIEDI forms.
