More than 108,000 patients across the United States are waiting for a lifesaving transplant. UNOS is committed to improving the system for these patients and has joined 14 leading organizations in urging Congress to maintain critical priorities in the FY26 federal funding package as it moves through final passage.
The House and Seante Reports for the FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bills included four essential improvements that will strengthen organ donation and transplantation nationwide:
- Automated donor referral tools to streamline the identification of potential donors
- Real-time organ tracking to enhance transparency and efficiency in organ transport
- FAA recommendations for organ transport to ensure timely and safe delivery of organs
- Support for medically complex kidney transplants to expand access for patients with challenging health conditions
UNOS is grateful to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittees: The Hon. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), The Hon. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), The Hon. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and The Hon. Robert Aderholt (R-AL) for championing policies that strengthen organ donation and transplantation.
