Dale E. Smith, CPA

Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Dale Smith is responsible for supporting UNOS and the transplant community by analyzing the organization’s financial strengths and identifying opportunities to grow in strategic directions. In addition to leading the organization’s operational planning for long-term growth and sustainability, Smith oversees key areas, including Finance and Accounting, Corporate Procurement, Organizational Excellence, Meeting Partners, Facilities, Philanthropy and Member Quality.
Prior to joining UNOS in March 2020, Smith was the CEO of Rappahannock Oyster Company. He previously served in positions of progressive responsibility in public accounting and executive roles for regional and national firms, including more than 15 years with Capital One. He is Lean Green Belt certified and has led performance improvement teams for Fortune 200 companies.
Smith is a Certified Public Accountant who holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from James Madison University. He also serves on the College of Business Advisory Board at his alma mater and is a board member at the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation.
