Michael J. Herald, J.D.
Chief Legal and Administrative Officer
As Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, Michael J. Herald supports legal strategy, governance and enterprise stewardship across UNOS’ administrative and people-centered functions.
Herald has extensive experience driving operational excellence, strategic growth and multi-stakeholder system innovation. Prior to joining UNOS, he served as general counsel, chief administrative officer, and ultimately president and CEO of Guardian Healthcare, a post-acute healthcare organization.
Since 2018, he has been an adjunct faculty member at Penn State University, teaching nursing home administrator courses on risk management. Herald serves on numerous non-profit boards, including Global Links, Slippery Rock University Healthcare Administration Management Board of Visitors and Phipps Conservatory.
He earned a B.S. in economics from John Carroll University and a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and shooting trap and skeet.
