Medical Director of Transplant Nephrology

Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, the principal teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, and the Tufts Division of Nephrology in conjunction with the Transplant Department are recruiting for a full-time Medical Director of Transplant Nephrology to join the Division.  Our program has experienced significant growth and is looking to add highly qualified and hardworking candidates to our excellent team.  Our team consists of 2 transplant surgeons, one transplant nephrologist and 4 dedicated transplant coordinators.  We utilize our own HLA lab.  Our historical volumes have been between 30-50 transplants annually.  We have many opportunities to develop and expand and are looking for an experienced transplant nephrologist with prior leadership experience to help lead us to this goal.


Applicants must have demonstrated skills in clinical transplant Nephrology.  Completion of training in an American Society of Transplantation Accredited Fellowship program is required.  Applicants must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the date of hire.  The candidate must meet criteria to be the UNOS Primary Physician. The applicant will participate in a mix of inpatient and outpatient service.  Typical clinical duties include pre-transplant evaluations, living donor evaluations, and post-transplant clinic.  Additional duties include active participation in the multi-disciplinary team, consultation with our HLA lab, and other committees including patient satisfaction and quality.  Leadership responsibilities will include: outreach to referring nephrologists and dialysis centers, shared oversight of the transplant team, shared oversight of the quality program, and development of all aspects of the program.  The applicant will participate in all educational activities in the Division including teaching of fellows, residents and medical students.
