Alex Tulchinsky named UNOS Chief Technology Officer

Richmond, Va. – Alex Tulchinsky has been selected as Chief Technology Officer of UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing). UNOS matches donated organs with transplant candidates nationwide and manages the national transplant database through contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“The nation’s transplant community, and the patients we serve, depend on UNOS’ technology services to be highly secure, able to adapt quickly to new needs and capabilities, and continually available,” said Brian Shepard, UNOS’ Chief Executive Officer. “Alex has the expertise and the vision to meet these demands and help us continue to be a worldwide model for a national transplant network.”

As Chief Technology Officer, Tulchinsky will oversee development and maintenance of the technology platforms that match donated organs with patients nationwide; collect key clinical information on organ donors, transplant candidates and transplant recipients; and facilitate communication of real-time information and data needed to facilitate medical decision-making. He will report to the Chief Executive Officer and manage the efforts of more than 150 employees in areas including information management systems, technology services, software engineering, and systems engineering.

Tulchinsky has more than 25 years of technology leadership and executive experience with industry-leading organizations in financial services, telecommunications and web-based information services. Most recently he was Senior Vice President of Infrastructure and Operations at Neustar, Inc., an information services and analytics provider based in Sterling, Va. His prior experience includes technology executive roles at SunRocket, Inc. and AOL (formerly America Online, Inc.). He holds a bachelor of arts degree in computer and information services from Temple University.
