John R. Lake, M.D., is director of the liver transplantation program, director of the division of gastroenterology and hepatology, and executive medical director
of solid organ transplant. He also is professor of medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Dr. Lake is a former member of the OPTN/UNOS board of directors. Currently, he serves on the OPTN/UNOS liver and intestinal organ transplantation committee and the OPTN/UNOS membership and professional standards committee (MPSC) as well as its data subcommittee. He also is a member of the review board (liver) from his region. He was a member of the OPTN/UNOS joint work group on MPSC process improvement and the OPTN/UNOS liver disease severity scale committee.
In addition to his OPTN/UNOS service, he has been president of the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and on AST's board of directors. He also was chair of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases' publications committee for liver transplantation. He currently is a deputy editor of the American Journal of Transplantation.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
