In late 2001, the UNOS Board of Directors set a goal to reach 50 million people directly, encouraging them to become donors. To achieve this goal, UNOS created the National Speakers Bureau. The National Speakers Bureau partners with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to assist corporate America and national organizations with educating individuals about the need for organ and tissue donation and how to become a donor.

Since its inception, many people have joined forces to spread the word at national forums and educate the public about the urgent need for organ donation. Speakers include:

  • Tommy Thompson, Former Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Richard DeVos, Owner of NBA Orlando Magic and co-founder of Amway Corporation
  • Chris Klug, Olympic Bronze medalist
  • Judy Martz, Former Governor of Montana and living organ donor
  • Reg Green, donor father, author of The Nicholas Effect
  • Sean Elliott, Former NBA All-Star, ESPN commentator
  • Rocco Andriola, Managing Director, Millennium Partners, L.P.
  • Charles Barkley, former NBA All-Star
  • Stuart Brower, vice president of On Air Promotions, ABC Entertainment
  • Katherine Heigl, actress and organ donation advocate
